Practice report packs

Report packs turn the period already recorded in SBB into a client-facing PDF. They use the firm's saved identity, state the reporting period and currency, and retain an immutable copy of what was issued.

Download the illustrative report pack (PDF)

The sample uses fictional names and figures. It demonstrates layout and reporting basis only; it is not a customer document, audit opinion, statutory filing, balance sheet, or accrual-basis profit and loss statement.

Set the firm's identity first

Open Accountant → Settings and confirm:

  • Firm display name
  • Logo
  • Accent colour
  • Reporting currency

The reporting currency is used for portfolio comparisons and consolidated groups. A single-client pack remains in that client's business currency.

Branding is captured when the pack is issued. A later firm rename or logo change does not rewrite an older issued document.

Create a reusable template

Only a person with firm governance authority can change templates.

  1. Open Accountant → Reports → Templates.
  2. Enter a name such as Monthly client summary.
  3. Choose the default period: last month, this month, last quarter, or custom.
  4. Choose Summary, Categories, or both.
  5. Select New template.

A custom-period template requires dates when it is used. Templates define a repeatable delivery scope; they do not change or post anything to the ledger.

Generate one client's pack

  1. Open Accountant → Reports → Generate.
  2. Under One client, choose the client.
  3. Choose a template, or choose custom dates without a template.
  4. Select Generate and review the on-screen money in, money out, net movement, transaction count, and period.
  5. Select Download PDF only after confirming the client and dates.

The client must have delegated report access. The pack uses posted, non-nullified cash movements for the stated period. Its Reporting basis says this explicitly so a management summary is not mistaken for an audited or statutory statement.

Generate the same pack across the portfolio

Under Whole portfolio:

  1. Choose a saved template.
  2. Select Generate portfolio packs.
  3. Review both the generated count and the skipped-client list.

Only assigned clients with the required report delegation are included. A skipped client remains visible with a reason; SBB does not present a partial run as if it covered everyone.

Use Reports → Groups when one client operates several related businesses and needs one combined view.

  1. Create a group and select its member businesses.
  2. Choose the reporting dates.
  3. Generate the consolidated pack.
  4. Review the businesses included, businesses skipped, conversion currency, and reporting basis.

Each business retains its own books and currency. Consolidation converts the summary into the firm's reporting currency and discloses that conversion; it does not merge the underlying ledgers.

Reopen exactly what was sent

Open Accountant → Reports → History. Every newly issued pack is append-only. Choose Open as sent to download the captured figures and branding rather than regenerating from today's ledger.

History records:

  • Client or consolidated group
  • Period
  • Template name
  • Person who issued it
  • Issue time
  • Whether the figures repeat an earlier pack
  • The portfolio batch, where applicable

If a transaction is corrected after issue, generate a new pack. Do not replace the earlier record: the difference between the two versions is part of the professional trail.

Packs created before issued-history storage existed cannot be reconstructed as historical originals. Regenerating them reads the ledger as it stands now.

Review checklist before sending

  • Correct client or group
  • Correct period and currency
  • Reconciliations complete for the period
  • Review proposals and exceptions cleared
  • Category totals make sense against the ledger
  • Skipped clients understood
  • Branding correct
  • Reporting basis appropriate for what was promised
